Seize the Moments

I don’t normally like to paint on dark, rainy days. Maybe it’s the lighting, or maybe it’s my mood. But I haven’t had much time for painting, so I seized the opportunity today to work on one of the two paintings I started and included in my last post. I also tend to wait to write poetry until I am inspired and not “force it.” Yesterday, I worked on a couple of poems that had started as scribbles in my journal. I’m happy to share one poem and one painting with you now.

Fresh Vintage

A new awning would really brighten the façade

of this old hotel.

Dated carpet,

mauve wing back chairs,

antique lamps,

steam radiators

But my focal point

is the fireplace

now adorned with my favorite

paintings

A footbridge view,

Untitled flower collage, and

Great head trail, Bar Harbor

Vibrant Color

Contrasting & complimenting

Vintage surroundings

On our way to the Vermont Room

where old murals live

a hallway with

Black, glossy walls now

covered with

my bright art

hanging

Some askew

Is it the frame?

or the walls & floors?

After a four attempts

to level

I surrender

And celebrate!
